All information systems majors must complete the following 48-51 credits of required classes with a minimum 2.0 GPA:

  • CS 150 Introduction to Computing
  • CS 162 Computer Science I
  • CS 163 Computer Science II
  • CS 230 Hardware and Software
  • CS 238 Internet Media and Programming
  • Select One:
    • CS 253 COBOL
    • CS 260 Application Development in Visual Basic
  • CS 330 Systems Analysis and Design
  • CS 333 Database Management and Implementation
  • CS 337 Network System Management
  • CS 450 IS Project Management
  • CS 460 Management of Information Systems *
  • CS 463 Information Systems Project *
  • CS 490 Internship
All information systems majors must select one of the following tracks:
  • Software Development:
    • Select One (whichever course was not previously chosen in the core requirements):
      • CS 253 COBOL
      • CS 260 Application Development in Visual Basic
    • CS 443 Software Development Tools
  • Networking:
    • CS 338 Wide Area Network (WAN) Engineering
    • CS 437 Distributed Computing

Cognate Courses: All information systems majors must complete the following 39 credits of cognate courses:

  • ACC 212 Principles of Financial Accounting
  • ACC 213 Principles of Managerial Accounting
  • BUS 201 Legal Environment for Business
  • COM 201 Speech
  • Select One:
    • ECO 210 Introductory Macroeconomics
    • ECO 211 Introductory Microeconomics (Recommended by the School)
  • FIN 320 Managerial Finance
  • MGT 268 Introduction to Management Information Systems
  • MGT 331 Concepts of Management
  • MKT 350 Marketing Management
  • Select One:
    • MTH 225 Discrete Structures: CS I**
    • MTH 227 Linear Algebra 1**
  • Select One:
    • STA 215 Introductory Applied Statistics**
    • STA 312 Probability and Statistics**

* Capstone Course.
** Completion of MTH 225 or 227, and either STA 215 or 312, and either STA 216 or 318 satisfy the B.S. degree cognate requirements for all information systems majors. Students completing a B.A. degree must complete a third semester proficiency in a foreign language.
